Soft skills – also known as essential, transferable, people, human or interpersonal skills – are highly transferable personal attributes and abilities that are foundational for employment. They support the effective deployment of job-specific knowledge and skills. They are distinct from basic skills like literacy, numeracy, or digital skills. They span all levels, industries and roles. The contribution of soft skills arises because of the importance of teamworking, collaboration, worker-to-worker interaction and worker-to-customer interaction in modern workplaces.
