What are the LSIPs and LSIFs?

LSIF: Local Skills Improvement Fund

LSIFs address local employer skill needs outlined in the Local Skills Improvement Plans. The primary purpose of LSIF is to deliver on the plans laid out in the LSIP and ensure the delivery of skills is strategically planned and rolled out at an area wide level.

LSIP: Local Skills Improvement Plan

LSIPs are an employer-led initiative from the Department for Education (DfE) in England. These plans aim to reshape skills training provision to better meet the local needs of employers and the wider economy.

aims

LSIF project

Learner Aims

Learners benefit from equipment and facilities which meet the needs of industry.

Employer & Partner Aims

Employers and partners are consulted and involved in curriculum development, and gain better access to relevant training.

Staff Aims

Staff have up-to-date training in key priority skills areas.

Soft Skills Aims

This area is dedicated to building a body of knowledge and models for work-ready skills. We will trial different methods for developing soft skills training, create practical explanatory models for green skills, digital skills, and soft skills. Specifically, we will respond to local Fenland skills needs by expanding our engineering training provision and piloting soft skills support programs.

Digital Skills Aims

With a focus on enabling the effective use of new digital technologies in teaching, we will invest in state-of-the-art equipment and facilities while building capacity and upskilling staff. We will ensure the seamless integration of technology into the curriculum to enhance learning.

Creating an environment where technology is not just an addition but an integral part of the learning process, fostering students’ digital literacy and preparing them for the future.

Green Skills Aims

Embedding green skills into the curriculum area builds on the successful New Anglia Green Skills project under SDF in which all five Norfolk and Suffolk Colleges played an active part.

This Project will not only continue collaborative sustainability work across all curriculum areas but will also enable collaboration around the developing facilities centres. Initiatives will include Sustainability awareness training and cascaded training across EEG and external partners.
